6 Things You Need To Know When Considering Office Lighting

In today’s blog post, we are looking at the top 6 things you need to know about when you consider office lighting. Whether you are upgrading to LED, take a look at our top 6 tips which will hopefully guide you in the right direction.

1. The changing office landscape

The office environment is constantly changing with a more recent focus on face-to-face customer interaction. You want your customers to be able to see your product(s) or service(s), so when you consider new lighting, you need to be able to incorporate lighting that will aid the new method of working.

2. Good lighting boosts business!

Research has been conducted which says that better light levels result in higher productivity within the workplace. There’s no excuse for your sales team when you have good lighting! Read our article on how productivity can be increased simply by switching to LED lighting here.

3. Biggest Energy Saver = Design

Innovative ways of designing lighting into a project at the start can produce greater energy savings than anything done further down the line. Take for instance our G360 LED SON Lamp, albeit its for industrial environments but the MagLev Fan Technology built inside prevents the ball bearings from drying up (a common problem associated with sodium and metal halide SON/corn lamps), learn more about the G360 here.

4. Upfront costs to fund new lighting are high but we have a solution

High initial costs are still a big issue for lighting upgrades. One way to offset the high upfront cost is with our BrightPlan leasing scheme. Why not pay for your new LED lighting with the money that you save? Another bright idea from Goodlight – please note that the BrightPlan leasing scheme is only applicable to Goodlight LED lamps and luminaires. For more information, visit our Leasing Scheme page.

5. Consider ‘natural’

A few years ago, it was all about daylight colour temperatures in the office. Time and time again, more offices are moving away from their energy-wasting, dull fluorescent lighting to natural lighting. Natural colour temperature is warmer (4K-5K) than daylight (5K-6K) and the light output delivered is, well, natural looking when compared to daylight which can offer a clinical feel to your office. You want your office to be open and inviting, so consider natural lighting when choosing LED.

6. Your lighting reflects your brand

Lighting Designer, Mark Ridler, states that:

“Lighting communicates your brand whether you think about it or not. Even if you don’t think about it, it says something about you.”

Remember this quote when you choose your new office lighting, good lighting is a reflection on your company and employees.
