LED LIGHTING FOR BREWERIES & DISTILLERIES
When considering LED lighting for a brewery, several factors need to be considered including colour temperature, enclosed luminaire fittings, glass-free options, and of course, the substantial energy savings that can be achieved and maintenance savings that can be eliminated.
Choosing on the correct colour temperature for your brewery will have an impact on the production process. For example, if a Warm (3,000K) colour temperature is selected, it may make the alcohol appear darker in colour. Daylight (6,000K) colour temperature may make the alcohol look too blue/white in appearance. For brewery lighting, we recommend Natural (4,000K) colour temperature to be used as this will make it easier to assess alcohol batches in the production cycle.
Traditional fluorescent and metal halide lighting generates heat whereas LED lighting is cooler to run, ensuring that the temperature within the brewery is cool, preventing spoilage of the production cycle. The Society of Lighting recommends that all drink preparation environments should have enclosed luminaires that can be easily cleaned to avoid contamination with the production cycle. For areas which have medium to high reflective surfaces, it is advised that diffused luminaires are used to ensure staff are not operating equipment in their own shadow.
When switching to LED lighting, glass-free luminaires should be considered, such as the Goodlight G5 LED Batten which features an polycarbonate lens, replacing fluorescent tube lighting commonly found in production factories. Our brewery LED lighting solutions include LED Battens, LED Tubes, LED Low Bays and LED High Bays. All Goodlight LED lighting has a performance lifespan of 50,000 hours and guaranteed for 5 years against failure. The range consists of glass-free LED luminaires which are perfect for drink production environments.
Some areas of the brewery may be unoccupied for some time, in this case, we recommend Light Boss, an innovative, SMART Wireless Lighting Control system which allows building operators to monitor, automate and control their lighting wirelessly, from a single platform. Light Boss is compatible with all Goodlight LED luminaires and can be retrofitted into existing buildings or installed into new builds, too. Light Boss can be set up to report on all connected lighting, illustrating areas of high energy usage, allowing building managers to tweak settings to ensure maximum energy savings. Typical energy savings from installing Light Boss can be up to 95%, find out more here.
