When considering LED lighting for stadiums, several factors should be considered including beam angle, output, colour temperature, IP protection and IK rating. It is imperative that your new LED lighting features a wide beam angle, ensuring optimal light spread throughout the stadium.

With LED lighting, you can simply fit and forget, reaping the rewards of the energy savings. The colour temperature is important too. For outdoor stadium events, we recommend Daylight (5,000K+) colour temperature as it matches daytime lighting. Natural (4,000K) and Warm (3,000K) colour temperatures deliver a warmer lighting effect – and should, ideally, be used for indoor settings. Stadium lighting should be protected against the elements. Ensure that your new LED lighting is IP65 or greater, offering protection against rain water, dust, ice, heat and corrosion.
For outdoor environments, the lighting should additionally offer IK08 protection, as a minimum. The higher the IK number, the more protection is offered. If the light was hit by a rugby ball, for example, the light would need to withstand the impact so that performance is unaffected.
