Halogen Light Bulbs Banned

,

It has been announced that Europe could ban halogen light bulbs from as early as next year! Soon, The European Commission is to decide whether to ban halogen light bulbs in 2016 or issue a phase-out by 2018.

Traditional incandescent light bulbs were already banned from sale within the EU, however stage six of the phase-out requires all light bulbs to be energy-class B by September 2016. The ban will mean that energy across Europe will be reduced significantly – simply by switching to CFL energy savers or LED lighting.

Inefficient light bulbs were banned in the UAE last July – meaning that incandescent light bulbs are no longer available to purchase. The ban is part of a energy reduction move in the UAE which they hope will see a big improvement in energy and cost savings, pollution and tackling climate change.

If the EU votes to ban the phase-out of halogen lighting next year, this will mean that the light bulbs will no longer be available to buy. Halogens are the least efficient type of light bulb on the market – with so many energy-efficient light bulbs now available, such as our Goodlight range of LED lamps and luminaires, why wouldn’t you switch to LED lighting? With huge energy (>85%) and maintenance savings (90%), reliability along with longer lifespans – all backed by our 5 year warranty, our retrofit ‘plug-and-play’ LED lamps are the perfect solution to energy-wasting lamps.
