The Green Investment Bank announced this month that it will increase its finance fund so that small businesses, who want to become more energy-efficient, will be able to access an additional £2 million. Delivered by the ReEnergise SmartEnergy Fund, the new funding will finance up to 20 projects for SMEs, including energy-efficiency lighting.

Business and Energy Minister, Michael Fallon, stated that “This is a welcome investment that helps small businesses and shows that going green isn’t just about building offshore wind farms or new energy plants. Any good business should want to become more efficient and saving on energy costs makes good business sense”.

Many SMEs had originally faced challenges accessing finance in order to become more energy efficient, especially when energy efficiency is one of the top priorities for SMEs.

Adam Hewson, CEO of ReEnergise Finance, mentioned that businesses from horticultural, manufacturing, nursing and hospitality would be eager to cut their energy consumption and become more ‘green’.
