3 Ways to Light a Furniture Store with LED Lighting
Considering LED lighting for your furniture store? With our three ways, you can achieve the desired look required, drawing attention to specific product ranges – for example, the latest collection of dining chairs.
When upgrading existing lighting or even installing brand new lighting within your store, you need to consider the space. Furniture stores are large spaces, often with high ceilings with two or more floors. These large spaces require high output lighting, capable of illuminating multiple floors from heights of 8m and beyond.
Recommended LED lighting for furniture stores include LED High Bays, Low Bays and LED Battens for high ceilings and LED Spotlights for lower levels. Natural 4,000K colour temperature is advised as this achieves, as the name suggests, a more ‘natural’ effect and will show the true colour of furniture. Daylight 6,000K on the other hand, is more cooler in colour, offering a more clinical illumination, whilst Warm 3,000K offers a more warmer / yellower light.
Option 1: Showroom with Full Illuminance
Tech Spec
Luminaires: GX1 LED High Bays and LED Low Bays
Optical control: White, wide angle reflector for
Arrangement: As shown
Average horizontal illuminance: >500 lx
Electrical load: 9W/m2
One of the best lighting solutions for your furniture store is the high-performance GX1 LED High Bay. This attractive unit has an attractive black body with Phase Change Copper Cooling Technology. Similarly, the reflector has a white finish which produces a 120° beam. This is a powerful unit emitting over 14,000 Lumens from a nominal 120W. CRI is >80 and the unit is rated at IP65.
Over the mezzanine area, 80W GX1 LED Low Bays have been used. These are shallow units, just 183mm high, provide up to 8,800 Lumens from a 120° beam angle. CRI is >80 and just like the high bay, this LED Low Bay is rated IP65 also.
Underneath the mezzanine, where the ceiling height is restricted, 600x600mm Eco LED Panels have been installed. These ceiling panels deliver up to 100 Lumens per Watt, protected to IP20 and are LG7 compliant. The LED Panels offer direct light distribution and are perfect for installing into 4m ceiling heights.
Option 2: Showroom with Soft Lighting
Tech Spec
Luminaires: LED High Bays and LED Tubes
Optical control: Mainly reflector
Arrangement: As shown
Average horizontal illuminance: 440Lx
Electrical load: 10W/m2
To achieve softer lighting for your furniture store, we recommend using LED Light Discs underneath the mezzanine. These have been used predominantly to create a ‘homely’ feel – mimicking lighting found within customer homes. These ultra-slim luminaires feature a <11mm depth and deliver up to 81 Lumens per Watt. Available in a range of wattages - 8W, 15W or 26W and in Daylight, Natural and Warm colour temperatures.
For a more industrial feel above the mezzanine, we have used LED Tubes as straight replacements for T8.
The GX1 LED High Bays have been used in the ceiling areas, just like in option 1, as these are a good all-rounder for large retail spaces. If a more powerful unit is required, the GX1 is available in a 150W model which delivers 135Lm/W brightness.
Option 3: Showroom with Highlights
Tech Spec
Luminaires: LED High Bays, Low Bays & Downlights
Optical control: Mainly reflector
Arrangement: As shown
Average horizontal illuminance: 400-500Lx
Electrical load: 9W/m2
To achieve highlights within a furniture showroom, we recommend using LED Light Discs to promote merchandise underneath the mezzanine.
This time, the 150W GX1 LED High Bays have been used for their optimum light output in illuminating large spaces. These LED High Bays deliver over 20,000 Lumens.
The views shown in the renderings measure about 20m x 15m (overall) with an 8m ceiling. The mezzanine area is 20m x 5m.
